What we’re working on:

 

Phonics:  r-controlled vowel /ar/

              Inflections –s, -ed, -ing

 

Spelling Words:  far, farm, arm, art, part, park, chin, such, fly, watch

 

High Frequency Words: again, feel, house, know, loud, Mrs., put, say (harder words from our reading story)

 

Stories: “Anne’s Trip to the Stars” and “Mark’s Big Day” (fiction)

 

Robust Vocabulary: approached, energetic, pace, blunder, reassure, excel

 

Math: Using larger numbers, number sequence, statistics

 

Homework:

 

*Please continue to practice the High Frequency Words at home.  Students should know these automatically.

 

Important Information and Dates:  

  

  • Field Trip to Hagley Museum is December 15, 2008!!!
  • The students are permitted to go to the PTA’s gift shop during their art class time only, which is on Tuesday.  If you are sending in money for your child to shop, it needs to be in the envelope that was sent home Friday.
  • The Book Fairy will be visiting on Tuesday afternoon to read some Holiday stories.
  • Please notice the letter in the homework packet about a special activity for next Friday, December 18th.

High Frequency Words: find, much, thank  (harder words from our reading story)

 

Stories: “Dot and Bob” (Realistic Fiction) and “Trees Help” (Non-Fiction)

 

Robust Vocabulary: horrible, invigorated, presented, sweltering, aid, persistent

 

Homework:

Packet is due Friday!

 

*Please add the new High Frequency Words to last week’s batch.  Practice reading these, putting them in sentences (orally) or even finding them in books you are reading. 

 

*The pages in the homework packet reinforce all the reading concepts we are learning this week.
